| A large painting by Henry McArdle set in one of several painted panels along the north corridor reflects 1835 Texas history when Texan volunteers moved on to San Antonio. Ben Milam, an ardent supporter of independence, raised 300 volunteers with his plea, “Who will go with old Ben Milam into San Antonio?” The Texan attack began on December 5 and ended on December 9. Tragically, Milam was shot by a sniper and did not survive the battle. The copy of the painting is courtesy of the Alamo. |
